Deposits for custom ordered cakes
A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50% of the total cake price is required to confirm your order for all custom ordered cakes not purchased via our online shop. Once received, this will secure the date for your event.
The remaining balance of your order is due 2 weeks prior for celebration cakes and 4 weeks prior for wedding cakes. For celebration cakes ordered less than two weeks and wedding cakes ordered with less than four weeks’ notice prior to the date, payment in full is required to confirm your order. Your order is not confirmed until we are in receipt of payment. For orders that remain unpaid for, we reserve the right to cancel.
Purchases made via our online shop must be paid for at the point of order via our online portal.

Orders cancelled after the final payment is paid time up to 2 weeks prior will be refunded 50% of the total amount and the deposit will be retained. Orders cancelled within 14 days prior to the event will not receive a refund and the full amount paid will be retained.
Cancellation must be made in writing (by letter or email) to Cabbage Patch Bakery and will only be deemed to take effect from the date your cancellation is received by us here at Cabbage Patch Bakery.
If you postpone the event, we will endeavour to transfer your order including deposit and payments made, subject to availability and if the date is available for us to transfer to.
In the very unlikely event of severe medical, natural, or other emergencies, it may be necessary to find you an alternative Cake Decorator. We will make every effort to secure a replacement cake designer of equal or more advanced skill at no extra cost. If such a situation should occur and a suitable replacement is not found, responsibility and liability is limited to the return of all payments received for the event.
Alteration & Changes
If requested, we will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible according to the nature of the request or amount of notice given. If the alteration affects the cost, or preparation work for the original design has already been undertaken, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly. Please warn us when you pay your deposit if you are undecided on the design. We understand designs can organically change if ordered well in advance, however all designs must be confirmed to us 4 weeks prior for wedding cakes and 2 weeks prior for celebration cakes.
We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control, may compromise the quality of the finished cake.
Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from the design requested.
Should any alterations be made to the cake after delivery/collection for example the addition of your own cake topper or fresh flowers, we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused. We are able to source some non-edible toppers with prior arrangement at an additional cost. We cannot source fresh flowers and will not be held responsible for any being added to a cake after delivery/collection.
Please discuss with us if you or any of your guests have special dietary requirements. Cakes can be made without most allergens. All our cakes are made fresh to order - allergen free cakes are kind of our thing! Dairy free, gluten free, vegan friendly, alcohol free etc is all possible, just be sure to let us know when you place your order. We work in a small kitchen so we do our best to ensure that allergens are prepared in a different area, though we cannot work in an allergen free environment. All our cake sponges are enriched with natural vegetables and may contain one or some of the following and is not exclusive to: courgette, sweet potato, butternut squash, carrot, avocado or parsnip. Please note other fruit and vegetables may be used but not listed. Please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org if you require any advice or further information on our ingredients used.
Most of our cakes contain inedible items in some sense or another; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer or guests before consumption e.g. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, Swarovski crystals, flower picks & flower tape etc. We will advise you, and where possible your caterers, on any inedible features on your cake for the purposes of serving.

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for a sturdy cake table, any linen, cake stand and knife, which should all be set- up prior to our arrival. These will not be provided by ourselves unless confirmed by prior arrangement. If any delay is incurred due to these not being set-up, we reserve the right to charge for any delay incurred (labour and time costs at £20 per hour). Alternatively, please arrange for the cake to be left with the event manager to assemble or move into position as appropriate.
Best Before Date / Storage Conditions
Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event, we cannot guarantee its quality if it’s consumed more than 48 hours after the event. Our cakes are made entirely of natural ingredients, please bear in mind that they will not have an extended shelf life like most supermarket cakes, which contain additives and preservatives to ensure their prolonged life. Once cakes are cut, they should be kept airtight and can be frozen for up to 2 months.
Sugar paste covered cakes should not be refrigerated, as it will cause condensation to form on the surface of the icing. Refrigeration also accelerates the staling of the flour in the cake.
Cakes should be kept away from heat sources and away from direct sunlight at all times. We will always advise your caterers/event coordinator how best to store your cake. Once delivered, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that these storage conditions are adhered to. Cabbage Patch Bakery will not accept responsibility for any damages caused due to incorrect storage of goods.
Brownies/blondies/traybakes are best kept in a cool, dark place and are best eaten with in 3-5 days and can be frozen up to 3 months, wrapped tightly.
Cake stand hire - £20 per stand
Prices quoted for cake do not include hire of a cake stand, an additional charge of £20 per stand should be applied. Payment for hire should be made in full 7 days before the hire date.
A 25% refundable deposit will also be charged to cover damages, extended hire periods and cleaning. Any breakages or missing items either in transit or in use will be charged at 4 times the hire charge. All prices quoted are for 7 day hire – longer hire can be arranged subject to availability.
We offer a collection service for an additional cost, should you need this please call Beccy on 07825729057 for a quote and we can then check availability for collection.
